Intestinal absorption and thus, the biological activity of procyanidins, depends on their molecular weight (monomeric-, oligomeric- and poligomeric-): higher molecular weight fractions (as found in lower quality extracts) are unabsorbed and therefore not beneficial for your body. Importantly, the optimal composition of Oligopin® Pur’expert contained in OProCyn™ provides a high concentration of the potent low molecular weight fractions (monomers and oligomers), thus guaranteeing its bioavailability and maximum level of beneficial activity. Bottom line, only quality ingredients along with careful product formulation can provide you with maximum results.

What Is Pycnogenol?
pine bark extract: Noun. (plural pine bark extracts) (organic chemistry) Any of a group of flavonoids extracted from the bark of pine trees, especially proanthocyanidins. The active ingredients of pine bark extracts can also be extracted from other sources, including peanut skin, grape seed, and witch hazel bark. An antioxidant dietary supplement containing such an extract. Usage notes-The capitalized version of the word, Pycnogenol, is a registered trademark.
Although some companies have chosen to use the term pine bark extract as a brand name, it is important to note that pine bark extract is the generic name for a set of powerful natural extracts from French Maritime Pine Bark (Pinus pinaster, synonym Pinus maritima) and a select few additional natural sources which are noted for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immune-building, and cardiovascular effects. The term “pine bark extract” was first coined in 1979 by the French research scientist Dr. J.A. Masquelier as a generic term to describe proanthocyanidins from (discovered in the early 1950s), when he published his body of work scientifically demonstrating this set of compounds’ powerful health properties. It is important to know that not all Pine Bark Extracts have the same effective and health benefits – quality REALLY does matter.
Legal note: All noted uses stated here and current commercial use of French Maritime Pine Bark Extract is limited to use as a dietary supplement, and not intended to treat, prevent, cure, or diagnose any diseases.
